This picture is of a Union issued uniform. All soldiers that signed up and were uniformed would have received this type of uniform. The bag is what they would carry with them in war. They would have carried milk, socks, letters, pictures and stationary in it. The hat is also Union issued they would wear if they had to go out in the sun and they didn’t want to get their face sunburned.
The soldiers may have used these bullets. These happen to be replicas. The museum that these were photographed at had not found any real Civil War bullets. Soldiers used this everyday when they were fighting. They were fighting. |
