Popularity
This artifact was one of the most commonly used sidearm.
For, it was probably one of the more advanced type of gun back in that time period.
Type
The colt was a 36. Cal. Pistol and was also made in 1850-1865.
Condition
This artifact had brass fittings and a very unique neatness to it (taken very good care of ). The metal barrel of the pistol was sort off tarnished as though maybe it was left out on a battlefield for a while.
Firing procedure
To fire this weapon: powder was poured in and a ball seated at the top of the chamber. The rammer then pivoted on the bolt connecting it to the barrel as the lever was swung down, forcing the bullet into the chamber. When a percussion cap was placed on the nipple at the back of the cylinder, the chamber was loaded. This is how all most the entire mussel loading revolvers worked back during that time. I found this information in a " Civil War Weapons book"
Capabilities/effect on people
I think that this revolver had a type of shocking effect on people. It’s accuracy was probably shocking to the "users" and was most likely a top notch gun during the civil war.
